Dr Martin Wood trained in neurosurgery in Australia before travelling to undertake further subspecialty training in Europe. This consisted of fellowships in skull base neurosurgery, pituitary surgery and hydrocephalus in Cambridge, United Kingdom and paediatric neurosurgery in Paris. Martin is a consultant neurosurgeon at Queensland Children’s Hospital, Mater Children’s Private Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Director of Neurosciences at the Mater Centre for Neuroscience.

Dr Wood’s special interest areas in adult neurosurgery include skull base tumours such as acoustic neuromas, pituitary tumours, craniopharyngioma and meningiomas. He has been a leader in the development of minimally invasive surgical techniques of the brain and spine. Dr Wood also has a wide experience in the management of neurosurgical disorders of childhood, surgery for epilepsy and spinal neurosurgery.
