The Pituitary Specialist Clinic in Brisbane is a team of highly experienced doctors, who work together to ensure that every patient receives individualised care tailored to meet their needs. Servicing Brisbane, Queensland, and all of Australia.
The management of pituitary tumours usually involves more than one specialist, and the Pituitary Specialist Centre has neurosurgeons, an ENT surgeon, endocrinologists, and a radiation oncologist on-site who collaborate to deliver optimum outcomes for our patients.

Meet our Brisbane Pituitary Specialists
NEUROSURGEONS
Dr Robert Campbell trained in neurosurgery in Australia and New Zealand before undertaking further subspecialty training in paediatric neurosurgery focusing on craniofacial surgery and endoscopic surgery at the world-famous Alder Hey Hospital in the United Kingdom followed by 12 months as Senior registrar at PAH working under Queensland’s preeminent Pituitary surgeons.
Dr Martin Wood trained in neurosurgery in Australia before travelling to undertake further subspecialty training in Europe. This consisted of fellowships in skull base neurosurgery, pituitary surgery and hydrocephalus in Cambridge, United Kingdom and paediatric neurosurgery in Paris.
Dr Damian Amato trained in neurosurgery in Australia. His training also included research into traumatic brain injury at the University of Adelaide for which he earned a Master of Surgery degree.
Dr Jason Papacostas trained in neurosurgery in Australia. He undertook further subspecialty training in paediatric neurosurgery in Brisbane, before travelling to North America and undertaking fellowships in epilepsy surgery and complex endoscopic skull base surgery including pituitary tumour surgery at Foothills Hospital, Canada.
Dr Antonio Tsahtsarlis completed his neurosurgery training in Australia after receiving an honours degree from the University of Sydney. Tony then undertook further subspecialty training in complex spine surgery at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Canada. He is a consultant neurosurgeon at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Mater Private Hospital Brisbane as part of the Mater Centre for Neuroscience.
Dr Jason McMillen trained in adult and paediatric neurosurgery in Australia before undertaking post fellowship training overseas in cerebrovascular surgery and neurotrauma.
ENT SURGEON
Dr Bowman has degrees in Dentistry (1994) and Medicine (2001) from the University of Queensland. In 2010 Dr Bowman travelled overseas to London, England where he worked for 12 months at Guy’s hospital and obtained further experience in both Head and Neck Surgery and Skull Base surgery.
ENDOCRINOLOGISTS
Dr Winnifred Lee is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Obstetric Physician. She graduated from the University of Queensland with First Class Honours and a University Medal. Winnifred has had public appointments at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Mater Hospital as an endocrinologist, now working only privately at the Mater Hospital and at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology.
Dr Benjamin Sly is a Consultant Endocrinologist providing outpatient care at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. He also works at the Princess Alexandra Hospital within the Physician Training Unit where he is involved in training for junior medical doctors.
RADIATION ONCOLOGIST
Associate Professor Matthew Foote is a Radiation Oncologist who is an internationally recognised specialist in the management of brain tumours, including pituitary tumours. Having completed his specialist training in Brisbane in 2009, A/Prof Foote undertook further sub-specialist training in stereotactic (brain and spine) radiosurgery and neuro-oncology at the world-renowned Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto.
